Sex Linked
Yellow Cheeks
Sex linked Yellow Cheeks, or SLYC, are one of four
mutations where the psittacin of the cheek patches
are affected. They have lemon yellow cheek patches
instead of the normal orange color. They follow the
same modes of inheritence as other sexlinked
mutations such as cinnamon, lutino and pearl.
Which means the cock carries it as a split or visual
gene and hens can only be visual, not split.

When breeding the SLYC, it is not recommended to
breed with WF or the other cheek patch mutations.
Due to the wide range of cheek colors in the
Dominant Yellow Cheek, they can often be
mistaken for SLYC. The Goldcheek is also very
similar in color. It is very important to know which
one you have before breeding. They can be bred into
any of the other mutations, and are quite beautiful
in pearl or lutino.
