Dominant Silver
Dominant Silver's are a light, silver grey in
appearance, caused by a reduction of melanin (the
melanin is what produces greys and browns) in their
feathers. This reduction of color can be typically
identified within the flight feathers, where the lack of
melanin is most noticable.
A dominant silver can be produced in a single-factor
(it has only one copy of the gene) or a double-factor (it
has two copies). Double-factors are lighter, (almost a
white silver) than single-factors because the melanin
is reduced twice as much. Both forms of the Dominant
Silver have dark eyes, beaks and feet, and a dark grey
skullcap. This mutation is dominant to all other
colors, including normal grey.  DS comes in normal
cheek and wf mutations.

Many of these cockatiels are now part of our flock.
